Exciting opportunity to join the Operations Team as a Regional Manager.

Regional Manager – ( Full Time, Salary to be discussed & based on experience )

Based at Boughton Estate (9 am – 5 pm, Monday – Friday)

Course Development

  • Review course feedback
  • Adjust (where possible) course, based on feedback
  • Review menu feedback
  • Adjust (where possible) menu, based on feedback
  • Review customer journey and aim to make improvements where possible
  • Link with Head of Training / Operations Manager to build a training program and recruit/train the best training team possible. For the following roles;
  1. Estate Manager
  2. Estate Coordinators
  3. Camp Leaders
  4. Tribe Leaders
  5. Field Cooks
  6. Logistics Assistants
  • Monitor training to ensure equal standard across the company


  • Ensure closing stock take on all 5 estates is accurate
  • Any / all kit and equipment is prepared on-site for set up
  • Any kit requiring service is serviced in due time for the start of the season
  • Redesign Structures (Bag Bays / Kitchen)
  • Ensure vehicles are on-site in working order before set up
  • Ensure all folkers are serviced
  • Ensure PAT testing is carried out on any electronics
  • Ensure fire extinguishers are serviced


  • Work with tree surveyor in order to make each site safe for set up
  • Fell tree’s in compliance with forestry standards where needed
  • Arrange a water test before the start of the season for both drinking water and swimming water
  • Ensure Estate managers are following tree reports
  • Create Estate Specific Set up a plan with Estate Managers
  • Take on various non-specific projects as directed by the operations manager in order to further help the development of estates and the business in general



  • Support recruitment through university fairs
  • Help advertise locally around your own region
  • Attend assessment days where possible in order to support recruitment
  • Work 1 day a month with recruitment in head office (Abingdon) to understand / support with the following;
  1. Compliance
  2. DBS
  3. Application processing
  4. Phone Interviews

In Season

(Roaming between 5 estates, 5 days in 7 with expected overtime)

  • Support Estate Managers through their day to day duties
  • Manage the day to day operational running of 5 estates with the support of the operations manager.
  • Visit Each of the estates within your region periodically ensuring the following;
  1. Standards are being maintained to the highest degree possible
  2. Compliance with all safeguarding / H&S regulations is maintained
  3. Teachers are happy with the current course
  4. Staff are happy with their role and comfortable performing day to day tasks
  • Dealing with field staff disciplinary issues
  • Working with the logistics manager to ensure logistics staff are following procedures and best practices
  • Be the first response for any and all R.A.G Amber / Red situations (linking with operations manager / Managing Director)
  • Ensure monthly stock takes are done and correct
  • Link with Logistics manager for any kit/vehicles that need to be serviced or repaired mid-season
  • Ensure monitoring of all staff is carried out and to company standards
  • Create weekly reports for the region ensuring all relevant information is communicated
  • Help to organize and run a staff party for field staff.


Required for the role;

  • Relevant experience within The Bushcraft Company
  • A minimum of one season as a Camp Leader role or similar
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word / PowerPoint / Publisher / Excel)
  • Experience in self-managing a project from beginning to completion (evidence required)
  • Experience in remote management
  • Full clean driving license




  • Degree Level of education
  • Knowledge and passion for Bushcraft
  • Logistical experience
  • Basic tree survey qualification
  • Chainsaw qualifications (CS30 & CS31)

The job holder’s responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young person’s for whom s/he is responsible, or with whom s/he comes into contact will be to adhere to and ensure compliance with The Bushcraft Company’s relevant Safeguarding; Child Protection Policy and Procedures at all times. If in the course of carrying out the duties of the role, the job holder identifies any instance that a child is suffering or likely to suffer significant harm either during the residential trip or at home, s/he must report any concerns to The Bushcraft Company’s Child Protection Officer/Designated Safeguarding Lead (Wesley Westaway) or to the Managing Director (Max Folkes) so that a referral can be made accordingly to the relevant third party services.
