The Bushcraft Company is looking for enthusiastic, innovative and hard-working individuals to join the Operations team to take ownership of our woodland estates.  The role of Estate Manager is crucial in bringing our adventures to life and ensuring that as a company, we fulfil our aim to provide children with; long lasting happy memories, new skills, resilience, an understanding of the wider world and a sense of achievement, all through the medium of Bushcraft at our beautiful woodland estates.

The Estate Manager role will be varied and requires meticulous planning, management and the ability to work within multi-functional teams.  Although the core delivery season is between May and October, the time spent reviewing, planning and implementing, is crucial to achieve an exceptional real outdoor experience for each visiting group.  An example of duties includes:

  • Working cooperatively with the Operations team to ensure the highest standards of quality and safety are established, maintained and monitored throughout,
  • To ensure the welfare of our staff is at the forefront of everything we do.
  • Planning, implementing and managing action plans for individual purposes as well as for those supporting the Estate Manager role.
  • Growing and maintaining professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Supporting the customer service and sales teams to provide relevant and up to date information in the early stages of the sale and customers journey.
  • Working alongside the recruitment team to identify target markets, manage outreach program, assessment days and training events to recruit and retain the very best people.
  • To provide an exciting environment for people to grow and develop in the outdoor industry.

This role will be based at one of our woodland estates and will require the ability to work independently, as well as being able to contribute in regular face to face meetings with the wider Operations team.  These will be supplemented by phone conferences to collaborate, share ideas and create best practice.

What we’re looking for?

  • At least 1 years proven experience of working in the outdoor environment, preferably whilst managing an educational product in a residential setting.
  • An ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines.
  • An ability to work independently and as part of a multi-functional team.
  • An ability to plan, manage, monitor and operate a variety of simultaneous projects.
  • A basic understanding of IT systems (MS Office).
  • The ability to manage, develop and mentor junior staff.
  • A driver with a full clean UK driving license held for a minimum of 1 year
  • Experience of operating all-terrain vehicles and pulling trailers is desirable.
  • A passion and enthusiasm to help the company achieve its core customer objectives.
  • Promote a positive culture of information sharing which leads to effective safeguarding processes being followed as per the company’s Safeguarding Policy.
  • Take responsibility on behalf of The Bushcraft Company for day to day safeguarding management, following the The Bushcraft Company safeguarding policy.

Selection & Appointment Process: Candidates will be required to complete The Bushcraft Company training program.  All appointments are subject to satisfactory training attendance, references and enhanced DBS Status.
