Would you like to spend your time working outside in beautiful woodland locations? We are looking for enthusiastic Camp Leaders, Tribe Leaders, Field Cooks and Logistic Assistants to help us run inspiring residential school trips, at our beautiful woodland venues across the UK. We provide full training so no experience required.  All we ask is that you are passionate and remarkable with a genuine interest in inspiring children in the great outdoors.  You should embrace living in beautiful woodland locations and be willing to go the extra mile to make every trip a success and provide our schools with a real outdoor adventure.

Senior Activity Instructor aka CAMP LEADER

This role involves management of a team of Tribe Leaders and Field Cook, as well as the day-to-day responsibilities of running an inspiring residential camp, you will be looking after your camp through facilitating activities for students during their stay with us. We will teach you all you need, then you will ensure our high standards, quality, pastoral care, safeguarding, health and safety are maintained throughout. This role requires enthusiasm, passion, and to lead by example as you will be a role model for young people, ensuring they leave camp with positive memories that will last them a lifetime.

You do not necessarily need to come from an outdoor education background, or indeed a bushcraft background (we employ many ex-teachers but there is no typical ‘sort of person’), as you will complete extensive in-house training, and mentoring before you work on a course. However, you do need to want to be part of a team whose aim is not simply to give students a taste of adventure, but to inspire a lifetime of it.

Activity Instructor aka TRIBE LEADER

This role is a hugely rewarding, seasonal position and can be a stepping stone to one of our more advanced, permanent roles. You will be responsible for one of our student 'tribes' at one of our camps, ensuring that our high level of pastoral care is maintained and safeguarding their Health and Safety throughout their trip with us. You will be looking after your tribe through the many activities they will be doing during their stay with us, activities range from wild swimming, archery and target sports to traditional bushcraft skills like fire lighting and shelter building. This role requires enthusiasm, passion, energy and a desire to lead by example you will be a role model for our young people, ensuring they leave camp with positive memories that will last them a lifetime.

This is one of our most important roles, and nearly everyone in the current bushcraft team has worked in this role. Our Tribe Leaders are key to The Bushcraft Company, providing the best care and instruction in our industry. No previous experience is required, as all applicants will complete in-house training and our mentoring scheme before working on one of our camps. However, you do need plenty of enthusiasm and a sense of fun.

Field Cook

Are you remarkable, love being outdoors, welcome a challenge and wish to inspire young people by providing real outdoor adventures?  We have the role for you.

Field Cooks are the heart of our camps and food is a huge part of what we do and you will help engage young people with what they are eating, how it's made and where it comes from.  You will be responsible for providing high quality delicious meals for students, teachers and your fellow team.  An important part of the role is ensuring that the storage, preparation and serving of all food is well monitored, maintained and controlled.

Estate Logistics Assistant

The Bushcraft Company is looking for hard-working and intuitive individuals to join the Operations team on a seasonal basis to support our Estate Managers, Estate Coorindators and camps, to help deliver our inspirational courses.  The role of Estate Logistics Assistant is crucial in bringing our adventures to life and ensuring that our beautiful woodland venues are maintained to give the same lasting remarkable impressions to each valued guest that visits. As a company, we aim to provide children with; long lasting and happy memories.  It will be your duty to ensure each camp can run efficiently, is well maintained and provided with all the resources to offer each child a positive memory that will last a lifetime.

One of the most important parts of our Operations Team are the Estate Logistical Assistants.  They provide a crucial support between the Estate Manager, Estate Cooridnator and the teams on camp, to ensure all equipment, resources and food are present and correct, in order to provide students with the very best back to nature experience.  The Estate Logistics Assistants form a team who are the lifeline of the woodland venue, ensuring aeach and every camp can operate efficiently and to the highest standards.

A large part of the role involves driving a variety of on and off-roaod vehicles, so a full driving licence is a must.  In addition, it would be desirable if you have previous experience of driving vans and towing, but not essential as we will provide you with all relevant training and qualifications to fully perform your duties.

Responsibilities include:

  • Movement of inbound and outbound food, equipment and customer luggage
  • Light maintenance of company vehicles as well as routine checks and maintenance
  • Customer transfers between pre-determined locations
  • A point of contact between the Estate management team and camps teams
  • A constant touch point for our customers, helping ensure the highest quality and standards across all our camps and staff
  • Maintaining and upholding standards of health and safety
  • Where necessary share appropriate information with professionals and/or colleagues as may be required to keep everyone safe.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors and driving vehicles.  We ask that you have a keen eye for detail and are able to work using your own initiative as well as part of a team.  It is important that you are eager to learn new skills as full training in off road driving, towing trailers off road and first aid is provided.  A multitude of other inhouse training courses are available such as; safeguarding, manual handling, COSHH and more.

You will be based in one of our beautiful woodland locations where a camping pitch will be available for you throughout the season.

Essential: 

  • Full Driving Licence with a minimum of 1 years experience
