How do I apply for a job at The Bushcraft Company?

How do I know if my application has been successful?

Please wait to hear from a member of our recruitment team. Once your applicaiton has been reviewed you will then receive an invitation to attend an assessment day.

 

When does the season start?

The season runs from April to October each year, although tribe leaders can start later in the season. We ask that you are able to offer us as much of this time as possible to allow you to gain your experience and get as much work as possible.

 

Do you have any permanent jobs available?

We have a limited number of permanent outdoor jobs and indoor jobs each year. Please look through jobs pages on this website to find out what is available at this time.

 

I can’t commit to a full season; should I still apply?

Yes, but please ensure you detail your availability in your original application.

 

Do I need experience working outdoors?

This varies from role to role. We are looking for people from all walks of life, passionate enthusatic people who enjoy working with children.

 

Do I need any special qualifications?

We will provide you with all the qualifications and training you will require for the role.

- Estate Logistics Assistance require to hold a driving licence with a minimum of one years driving experience - 

 

Do I need references?

Yes. You will need to provide two professional referees on application.

 

Do I need a CRB certificate?

Yes. You will be required to complete full Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks (previously CRB checks).

 

Will I be paid travel expenses?

Travel to and from your place of work will not be paid for by the company. We may require you to work across a few of our woodland estates, however we may provide transport between our centres.

 

Can I choose which estate I work at?

We will aim to ensure you can work at your chosen woodland estate, however due to the nature of the work we may move you between woodland estates.

 

How long is each camp?

Camps vary from 24 hour to 5 days (all residential) Our most common length is 3 and 5 day residential courses.

 

Do I need my own car?

No, however if you are applying for an estate manager role, you will need a full UK drivers licence.

 

Where will I sleep?

While on camp you will need a sleeping bag and will sleep under our yurts by a warming fire. All meals will be provided while on residential courses. Between camps all staff can stay in our allocated staff camps for free, but you will need to bring your own tent. Facilities are available and vary depending on which estate you attend.

 

Can I work during the day and go home at night?

We require all staff to remain on site for the duration of any camp they are assigned to.

 

Will I be working weekends?

We will supply you with a schedule of work a month in advance. Some camps run over weekends.

 

Where are the warehouse jobs based?

The warehouse is based at our head office in Abingdon, Oxfordshire.

Do you have any jobs overseas?

No. We only operate within the UK.

 

Can I bring my pet?

Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate pets at our estates.

Is there a minimum age to work for The Bushcraft Company?

Yes. Applicants will only be considered aged 18 and over.
